WELLINGTON FIELDS!
Hixon Allotments Association

About

Allotments were first proposed for Hixon villagers as far back as the 1990’s, but it has taken a general Government push to the population’s interest in a healthier lifestyle and the idea of growing food for themselves, which has resulted in the new village allotments. Land in Egg Lane, which has been made available by a local farmer whose family have been in the village for generations, was the location of an old wartime hospital attached to Hixon airfield further down the hill on the far side of the village. It is because of the generosity of the farmer and the good work by Councillor Brendan McKeown, along with Parish Clerk, Mrs Catherine Gill, that the village of Hixon can now proudly say that it has its own purpose built allotments. The allotments were actually opened on 17th May 2011.
